Bringing home the Gold

This weekend was Aaron's two fights.

He won both by unanimous decision. So that means both fights went the distance. Two full fights in one night. And now he is Welterweight Champion!

If his conditioning wasn't there then he wouldn't have had a chance to outlast his opponents.

I wish I had a quarter for every time someone said he was so much stronger than his opponents. Both fighters Aaron fought also commented on his strength, one said they had never grabbed onto anyone as strong as him before.

I personally witnessed his stamina and endurance looked head and shoulders above his opponents. In the title fight, he fought someone who was well known for their endurance and stamina, and every time Aaron was up first from his corner to start the next round ready to go. Even after getting dazed in the middle of the second fight, Aaron perservered and won all three rounds of that fight. Later he said he didn't remember the second round or what happened, he was working on instinct and the bottomless jar of energy he had.

A true testament to his dedication to conditioning and our programming.

We'll be posting more on his program and some of the finer points soon.

A sampling of the Earlier Workouts

In the beginning I trained Aaron in my backyard with the equipment I had there. Here is a video of part of one of those workouts:

Here was the workout:
Tire Flips 30 seconds
Pull ups 30 seconds
Kettlebell Snatches 1 minute (30 seconds each arm)
Sandbag Jump Squats 30 seconds

We did 3 rounds of this to start things off with a 2 minute rest between rounds.

All in all we hit almost all the major muscle groups to achieve a general conditioning response:
Hips- Tire flips
Pull- pull ups
Quad- Jump Squats
Snatch- total upper body

Since Aaron was upper body push dominant, I didn't see the need to always include pushing movements in his workouts, the rest needed to catch up.
